Owen Hindes: Upcoming In Film

17-year-old filmmaker, Owen Hindes from Upstate New York. Owen Became fascinated by creating video-based media when he was 10. Owen started making Lego YouTube videos then and soon moved topics from Legos to technology as a review channel when he was 13.

Owen lost interest in that topic and got a camera. He deceased I wanted to make films. Hindes made a couple of simple films with my little brother and sister who wrote and directed them, then moved to more personal works where he created The Bagel Heist two years ago and submitted it to many film festivals. Now Hindes have been working on some more shorts along with growing my social media.

Film

The Bagel Hiest

The bagel heist was a short made for a film class I was in. The assignment was to create a 5-minute video that used the lighting and filming techniques we learned along with having a twist or cliffhanger at the end. I took the assignment and looked for a place to find when I came across the exit sign in the main hall of my school

I thought the red light was aesthetically pleasing and built the film around that, to begin with, the entire first half was shot that night. I then edited together the footage and thought about where it could go next. I filmed making a bagel as the next part. And finished the film using that method. I wanted to have a very specific sound to it and I couldn't find any good stock music, so I created my own score on the piano.

Film

K1000

I have been working on K1000 for three months now. I originally came up with the idea when I wanted to have a waist-lever viewfinder camera, so I took apart a K1000 ME to see if it was possible to mod it. After creating one that sort of worked, I thought the view from the waist-level viewfinder was beautiful. I started writing a script soon after that and came up with the story of a

camera's life and started filming. I created a set and filmed the process of modding the camera to create the waist-level viewfinder. I created a camera rig that would perfectly center the camera in the frame, looking through the viewfinder. I traveled to Toronto and New York City filming while I walked and taking pictures. I am currently in post-production and have been composing another original score for this project.
